- Twenty-six cube® owners show off in Canada’s first cube convoy –
MISSISSAUGA, ON (Sept 1, 2011) – Last night, 26 proud Nissan cube® owners in the GTA made their way through downtown Toronto, showing off their unique cars during Nissan Canada’s first cube convoy. The head-turning procession began in Liberty Village and concluded in the Distillery District where the group congregated for a celebration of all things cube.
The cube’s distinctive design and individuality have been long-celebrated by cube owners in cyber space. Since the car launched in Canada in 2009, cube owners have swapped stories, shared cube-related insights and information and posted their cube adventures – in text and video – online in the cube Community (www.cubecommunity.ca). Last night, was the first official outing for the cube Community.
“There are car owners and then there are Nissan cube owners, who love to stand out in a crowd.” said Judy Wheeler, Director of Marketing at Nissan Canada. “It was great to get cube owners face-to-face and cubes bumper-to-bumper for an evening of shared cube stories, adventures and of course, a great time.”
The Nissan cube is a compact four-door hatchback wagon, is available in two well-equipped models: cube 1.8 S and cube 1.8 SL. The cleverly designed Nissan cube, with its asymmetrical rear window, refrigerator-style rear door and wide range of personal accessories is built on Nissan’s proven B-platform and is offered with a standard 122-horsepower 1.8-litre DOHC 4-cylinder engine and a choice of Nissan’s advanced, smooth shifting Xtronic CVT™ (Continuously Variable Transmission) or 6-speed manual transmission.
Many cube owners customize their vehicle with added interior accessories and decals. More than 30 individual accessories are offered – ranging from a unique 20-colour interior accent lighting kit and “shag dash topper” inserts to aerodynamic body kits and custom wheels – allowing cube owners to personalize their vehicles to reflect their own tastes and needs.
The vehicle really is a blank canvas which allows the individuality of the driver to shine through. It truly is the vehicle with innovation for individuality.

Cube Gatherings
If there is any possibility of organizing a Cube event in Vancouver in 2012, I'd be interested, and I would also corral the half-dozen or so Cubes in the Comox Valley to come along. In a city like Vancouver, I would hope to get several dozen owners to participate. The one hitch is that with no Cubes to import this year (tsunami), Nissan might not support an event, especially since they have thrown their marketing behind the Juke now. It would be a shame to see what was once the most distinctive and original car on the road (just 2 1/2 years ago!) be sidelined as a result of manufacturer disinterest. It's happened before.
gifts for participants in the convoy
We attended the first annual cube convoy on August 31st and had a great time! We brought both of our Cube KROMS and when we were leaving, the hosts of the event were handing out gift bags with cube mudflaps. They wont fit our KROMS,but one of the organizers told us that they would be in contact with us because we had the only KROMS there, we would be receiving a free gift afterward. We have not been contacted yet,and were wondering if you know anything about this and who we should contact to get more info.
