residency in Belem, Brazil

Ola!  Bom dia fellow cubers, I write to you from Belem, Brazil. (Bethlehem in Portuguese)

I will be here for two months as a resident artist at the Instituto de Artes do ParĂ¡ .  It is part of the studio exchange sponsored through the Quebec Council of the Arts.  I am in the Amazon!  The city is a metropolitan bustling hot bed with over a million people.  A massive city on the Amazon river, near the mouth at the Atlantic ocean.  There are large sky rises, mixed with colorful colonial architecture and the streets are lined with giant jungle mango trees.  There is an open air market at the river featuring exotic produce, fruits, vegetables, fish, brazil nuts, cashews from the jungle.  And today I saw a SLOTH.  I am here to research local legends, myths and the Amazonian culture. I will be making video, animation and drawing projects based on my research.  FOLLOW BLOG [http://looperamazon.blogspot.com/]  for info, photos, videos.

The people are super cool! Brazilians love to give the *thumbs up. But I need to learn Portuguese, quick.  Tudo bem?  That being said....the cube is safely parked in the meantime in the suburbs at Longueuil. My partner in mayhem and artist collaborator, Arthur Desmarteaux will be guarding it until my return in December.
